HAGON Front Suspension

Hagon's progressive front suspension is designed to create a balance between comfort over small bumps and stability under heavy loads, such as hard braking or sporty riding. The principle behind this front suspension is based on a variable spring rate, also known as progressive suspension.

A motorcycle's front suspension consists not only of springs but also of oil—and it is precisely this oil that is crucial to how the suspension feels and functions. With HAGON, the oil works together with the progressive spring to control movement.

Hagon Progressive front fork springs are designed for improved handling and ride characteristics. The progressive winding of the spring ensures that the springs become stiffer as the suspension is compressed.

  • Basic Principle

The front fork consists of two important components:

1. Spring → bears the weight and absorbs impacts
2. Oil (damping) → controls the speed of movement

Without oil, the motorcycle would keep "bouncing" like a pogo stick.

  • Influence of oil viscosity

The thickness of the oil (e.g., 5W, 10W, 15W) has a major influence:

Thin oil (low value)
→ less resistance
→ faster movement
→ comfortable, but less precise

Thick oil (high value)
→ more resistance
→ slower movement
→ more precise, but can feel stiff

  • Oil height (air chamber)

Not only the oil itself is important, but also how much is in it:

More oil = less air → stiffer end stroke
Less oil = more air → softer end stroke

The air above the oil acts as an additional "spring".

  • Collaboration with progressive springs

With a progressive spring (as often found in Hagon):

- beginning of the stroke → soft (spring does most of the work)
-
end of the stroke → stiffer
- oil ensures that both phases proceed in a controlled manner

IN SHORT

The oil in the front suspension:

- slows down the movement of the fork
-
prevents bouncing
- provides stability during braking and cornering
- together with the spring, determines the riding feel

These front springs are supplied with oil, mounting instructions, and possibly spacers depending on the model.
